Details

Blue Dragon Film Ventures is in development as a multi-stakeholder worker-cooperative. Using barter dollars, an intentional community, and cooperative film and tv projects, Blue Dragon aims to provide employment, housing, and an exciting work/life balance to Canadian and US veterans and veteran first responders.

As part of that mandate and using a scholarship reimbursement program (to be) entitled the Injured Eagle Benefit Program, Blue Dragon will actively recruit graduates from various fields (expected start-date 2025) to fill internship roles with an industry partner where the graduates will spilt their labor 50/50 between the sponsor and an internal Blue Dragon project.

One of these projects will be to develop a world class research program in embryonic stem-cell and tissue engineering techniques.

Deliverables

Students of the biomedical engineering course are being asked to develop a design and viable plan for a state-of-the-art medical research lab that meets all US building and permit codes using low-tech, low cost building materials such as cob and bamboo. The structure needs to be constructed with a minimum of modern building machinery.

In terms of heavy walls, think cob or the oldest parts of the Great Wall of China. Light walls can be constructed of bamboo covered in cob or adobe. Assume electrical generation will be from renewable resources, so all passive solar features should be maximized. Water and sewage will be filtered and treated using a solar aquatic greenhouse incorporated into the design, and the whole lab will be under a 25 meter high, 60 meter diameter PVC and steel geodesic dome.

Mentorship

Students will be expected to provide a schedule of deliverables and ultimately a design with materials and equipment list, budget for the lab portion, and - preferably - a CAD or 3D model of the design in a format compatible with Adobe Premiere or DAZ3D and of sufficient detail and quality to show to potential investors.

They will be provided with a dedicated contact, replies to emails within 24 hours, and video conference meetings weekly or when needed.
