The Advanced Sociological Research course at UT Dallas is designed to provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience in applied research methods and data analysis. Students in this course will engage in real-world projects that address complex societal issues, utilizing techniques such as surveys, interviews, case studies, and statistical analysis. Their work will support evidence-based decision-making for businesses, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. These learners are refining their professional skills in research design, data collection, data analysis, and effective communication of findings. The primary goal is to help students develop a deep understanding of how sociological research can be applied to solve pressing challenges in various sectors, including education, housing, public health, and marketing. We invite employers to collaborate with our students by offering relevant projects that allow learners to apply their academic knowledge and further develop their professional writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Employers will be expected to engage in regular communication, offer guidance and resources, and participate in final presentations to provide valuable feedback to the students. This collaboration will provide a fresh, data-driven perspective on real-world problems.

This experience is designed to immerse learners in a practical data science project, where they will apply their skills in data extraction, processing, and analysis to solve real-world problems. Learners will work collaboratively in teams to define a problem, gather and analyze data, and develop computational tools to derive insights. They will leverage their programming expertise in Python and R, along with statistical and machine learning techniques, to create predictive models and data visualizations. The experience aims to enhance teamwork, project management, and communication skills, culminating in a comprehensive project report and presentation.

UTDSOLV is Senior Capstone program in the Jindal School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking proposals for collaboration with our students across our school of management. Our student teams will include students from a variety of subject areas with expertise in marketing/market research, business development, data analytics, operations management, information systems, accounting and finance. The diversity of perspectives and education will provide businesses with a uniquely beneficial consulting experience. Given our students' backgrounds, the example projects below are flexible, based on the depth and scope of your project needs. The organizations need only present their real-world business problems and groups of approximately 5 students will work on for the term. Engagement between students and sponsors is customizable, with a one-hour per week by the company to ensure project progress. All students work virtually so sponsor/company locations are flexible!
